Welcome to the Stag Inn, where History and charm abound. It’s recorded as the oldest public house in Devon. Dating back to the end of the 12th century, this wonderful thatched pub is in the village of Rackenford, about a mile off the main A361 Tiverton to South Molton road.

Under the management of Sophie, a local lady, and Matt, who hails from Australia and worked as a chef for Gordon Ramsey in London, the Stag is thriving with food and drink of excellent quality

The bar is open lunchtime and evening and all day in the summer for drinks - two brews from the Exmoor Brewery are the cask ales. Meals are served in either the oak-floored dining room or in the bar, along with a large decked area outside for patrons to enjoy Matt's outstanding cooking.

Sophie's family own and run a nearby organic farm, West Yeo, and a great deal of the produce that goes into Matt's kitchen comes from that source.

Food is served from 12 to 2.30 and from 6.30 to 9.00 every day except Sunday evening. The Stag is closed Sunday evening.

There is a delightful private dining room that can seat up to 12, together with a function room for larger functions such as parties or weddings. Families with children are welcome, and the pub accepts the major credit cards. There's ample off road parking.
